EECA Energywise™ Grants
New Zealands’ Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) offers a range of grants for funding energy efficient homes. Grants for insulation and clean heating are only available for older (pre 2000) houses, but grants for solar hot water heating and heat pump hot water heating are available for new systems being installed. Biofuel Subsidies
The New Zealand government currently subsidises production of biofuels, though no decision has been made yet whether or not to extend the subsidy beyond mid-2012. This subsidy is to the producers of biofuels, and the savings are passed on to the consumer, making biofuels (and biofuel blends) economically competitive with conventional fuels.
