What Is It?

Fraemohs StrongWall is an insulated, steel reinforced concrete wall system.

It is made with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) that stay in place as permanent building insulation for cast-in-place reinforced concrete walls. The ICF’s are interlocking modular units (like Lego) that are stacked together on site and filled with steel reinforced concrete. The steel is placed as the forms are stacked and then concrete is pumped and vibrated into place. Electrical conduits and plumbing are easily accommodated.

Generally ICF construction is used only for exterior walls with interior walls built using conventional timber framing with gib board cladding, or Fraemohs solid timber.

Is It Well Proven?

Fraemohs StrongWall has been in use in New Zealand and overseas for many years. In Canada and the USA 5% to 10% of new homes are constructed using StrongWall. In New Zealand StrongWall is used under several different names including Insulform and has generally been used for high quality, architecturally designed homes. The famous Millbrook Resort near Queenstown was built using this system.

Fraemohs thinks more people should know about this great building system and have the opportunity to use it to build warm, quiet, energy efficient homes.

Consider combining Fraemohs StrongWall and Fraemohs Solid Timber for stunning effect.
